In today’s workshop, we explored the art of creating blackout poems, using articles provided by Adam as our source material. This creative exercise encouraged us to focus on themes related to our projects, allowing us to distill meaningful messages from existing text.
I selected an article centered on coping with grief, a theme that resonates deeply with my work. The goal was to transform the text into a poem that reflects the emotional journey of grief and its complexities. Below are the blackout poems I created:
Miss the person and want them back.
You feel sad, alone, or even angry.
Have trouble concentrating or sleeping.
Feel lost.
Feelings are normal.
There is no right or wrong way to mourn.
Grief.
Death.
