As the project manager, I am responsible for organizing the production schedule for our game, Kamioshi. To ensure a structured and efficient workflow, I have divided the project into distinct phases, each focusing on a key aspect of development. Regular weekly meetings will ensure consistent progress and address any challenges that arise during the game’s development
Phase One: The Discovery Phase
The Discovery Phase represents the foundational stage of our project, where we established the groundwork for development. This phase included brainstorming sessions, assigning roles based on individual expertise, forming the team, and refining our game concept. It also involved critical decision-making to align the project with our goals and the target audience.
Key Activities During This Phase:
- Group Formation:
- Team members were assigned specific roles tailored to their unique skills and strengths.
- Collaborative discussions ensured everyone was on the same page regarding their responsibilities.
- Defining Objectives:
- Clarified the overarching vision for Kamioshi, including its themes, core mechanics, and intended target audience.
- Outlined the emotional and narrative tone we aim to achieve.
- Concept Refinement:
- Conducted in-depth discussions to finalize the game's storyline, gameplay elements, and artistic direction.
- Incorporated feedback to ensure the concept was cohesive and achievable within the timeline.
- Research:
- Explored idol culture and its portrayal in games to create an authentic and immersive experience.
- Investigated narrative-driven games and simulation mechanics to draw inspiration and refine our approach.
- Changes and Adaptations:
- Made adjustments to the initial concept and team roles based on early-stage insights and evolving ideas.
- Flexibly adapted to feedback from team discussions and initial brainstorming sessions.
Timeline:
- The Discovery Phase began in early December 2024 and concluded on 15th December 2024.
- The winter break (15th December 2024 to 12th January 2025) was utilized for additional research, preliminary sketching, and preparing for the next phase.
Outcome of the Discovery Phase:
- Team Alignment: A clear understanding of roles and responsibilities, fostering collaboration and accountability.
- Refined Game Concept: A polished idea for Kamioshi, complete with defined mechanics, narrative structure, and gameplay objectives.
- Preparation for Prototyping: A detailed plan to guide the next phase of development, ensuring a seamless transition into prototyping and design work.
